Hair recovery - How to fix damaged and dry hair the fastest?

zdrava kosa

Have you ever thought about hair as the scalp's first line of defense, or as a shield that defends our scalp? Namely, the concept of hair is usually associated with completely different associations: it is a trump card of femininity, a "seduction tool", a mirror of trends, and sometimes of character.

Although the aesthetic aspect has long been greater than the biological role, it takes a lot of effort to preserve the health and beauty of the hair. Only when the hair problem becomes visible do we realize how much damage has been done, but often it is already too late and we need a lot of time and effort to bring it to a satisfactory state. Unless you have a magic wand, you can't undo hair damage once it's done. However, you can change your habits and give your hair a boost with extra care. Hair damage is much more than split ends, but when you notice a loss of shine and elasticity, know that the cuticle has been damaged and it is necessary to take certain steps immediately, so that the damage is not even greater and the recovery is more difficult. Extremely damaged hair develops cracks in the outer layer. Once the cuticle opens, your hair is at risk of further damage and breakage.

It may also appear lifeless or fly in all directions. In those situations it is difficult to shape. Sometimes it's clear how you ended up with damaged hair. You have improperly used hair dye, bleach or hair styling tools. We will try to guide you in the following text on how to prevent further damage, relieve symptoms, and how to reach the ultimate goal - which is recovered and healthy hair.

Damage patterns and your hair type?

To begin with, you need to know what your hair type is. Each person has different hair, and each type has its own specific way of care and treatment. That is why it is necessary to experiment. Leave your hair alone for a few days, without any products, and observe how the hair behaves. Once you find out what your hair type is, always act accordingly. Keep in mind that your hair probably won't always respond to products and care in a friendly way.

It is necessary to define what are the causes that led to hair damage? Could it be bad habits and body condition? Hair problems - such as breakage, dryness and even shedding - are sometimes related to the condition of the whole body, and sometimes to our hair styling habits. Namely, women thermally treat their hair in order to curl it or perfectly straighten it, and if they do it often or in inadequate conditions, the consequences quickly become visible. Hair becomes dry, lifeless and begins to fall out.

It is impossible to fake the beauty of hair - it will look healthy and well-groomed only if it really is. Namely, beauty products will not repair its structure, nor make it permanently healthy and smooth. And the years bring new challenges. Namely, there are between 100 and 150 thousand follicles on the skin of the scalp, and it is estimated that each of them creates about 20 new hairs during its lifetime. The fact is that each hair has its own life span, which in younger people lasts an average of seven years, while in older people it shortens with age. Therefore, hair thinning often occurs due to slower new growth and faster loss of existing hair. You must be wondering how to help your hair?

Hair recovery is the key thing and the ultimate goal.

First, you'll need to pay attention to how you eat. Eat enough protein and watch your iron. Namely, the way you eat significantly affects the quality of your hair, which should definitely be taken into account when, for example, you decide on a diet. Try to find one that is based on enough protein, and it is especially important to get enough iron. Protein and iron play a very important role in maintaining hair health, especially in people who are very active. Without sufficient protein intake, which is found in large quantities in meats such as chicken and turkey, your hair will be dry and lifeless.

As we mentioned, nutrition plays a big role when it comes to hair recovery. Get enough vitamins: eat foods that contain them, eat healthy and use quality supplements. The foods that are most pleasing to our hair are: green vegetables such as broccoli, Swiss chard and spinach. They are an excellent source of vitamins A and C, as well as calcium.

What else is needed to recover your body and hair?

Vitamin D, omega, fish oil... Biotin will especially contribute to the beauty of the hair, which will strengthen it and prevent breakage. Eggs, stone fruits and salmon are some of the foods whose intake is of crucial importance for healthy, well-groomed hair and its recovery. Take care of your diet and be sure that your hair will thank you for it.

In addition to hair loss, the most common hair problems are extreme dryness and brittleness. These two conditions are often closely related, so people affected by one of these ailments will often struggle with the other sooner or later. Namely, excessive drying of the hair is a signal that the hair lacks moisture in the deeper layers, and as a result the hair becomes more brittle and weaker.

What else should you pay attention to when it comes to hair recovery?

Many people think that hair should be washed daily, but in most cases, hair should be washed every other day or even less often. Remember: Depending on your hair type, wash your hair only when needed, not out of habit. If you have dry hair, you don't need to wash it more than 2-3 times a week. If your hair is oily, wash it every other day, and so on. It is true that there is no absolute formula for how often you should wash your hair. If you wash it often, you will prevent the hair from recovering naturally and the hair will end up being damaged again. In addition, try not to wash your hair with too hot water. Warm water dissolves natural and protective oils that act as a natural conditioner. By washing your hair with lukewarm water, your hair retains its natural shine.

As for drying your hair, let it air dry naturally whenever possible. A blow dryer is a quick way to dry hair, but the heat can damage the hair follicles, resulting in dry, damaged hair. Regular haircuts are also an essential step of proper hair care, when it comes to its recovery. The ends of the hair bloom easily, and if you don't cut your hair for a long time, it can very easily start to look damaged and unhealthy.

Do you have a habit of constantly running your fingers through your hair?

Try not to do that.
Try not to touch your hair constantly. Because your hair naturally has its own oil, like your hands, constantly touching your hair will cause more and more oil to enter your hair, making it greasy. To prevent this, it is best to have a hairstyle that is easy to manage and does not bother you all day. It is also important for recovery to avoid coloring as much as possible. Hair dyes contain many chemicals that can damage your hair, and if you use them too often, it's almost impossible to repair that damage. Stick to your natural hair color if you can, but if you absolutely must dye, do it as infrequently as possible and stick to the shade of your natural hair color. When we mention bleach, the first association is definitely damaged and dry hair.

However, the fact is that all hairdressers use it, which means that perhaps its effect is not so aggressive, if it is used correctly. Blanche is a product that breaks down the pigments found in our hair, giving it a natural color. It is most often used for lightening hair, pulling out strands and transitioning from darker shades to lighter ones. If you decide to use bleach, know that your hair will need additional care. Hair treated in this way easily becomes dehydrated and loses moisture. After the blanching treatment, hydrate your hair deeply, using nourishing masks that will provide it with enough protein and repair the damage. In addition to purchased preparations that you can find in any store that sells cosmetic products, you can also make certain masks yourself that will have a positive effect on the recovery of your hair.

Protect your hair from the sun

Surprisingly, sunlight can damage the hair as much as the skin. Too much sun can dry out hair, especially if it's colored, so protect your hair with a cap or a hair product with a sun protection factor if you plan to be outside for long periods of time. Also, avoid tying your hair too tightly. A ponytail or braid is always useful when you're out and about, but be careful not to over-tighten your hair, as this can lead to damage and breakage, which will significantly slow down its recovery.

Use natural ingredients for hair recovery. Be sure to use hair packs, whether you opt for store-bought or homemade ones. Hair must be sufficiently nourished at all times because it is of crucial importance for its recovery, quality and health.

It is recommended that you give your hair an oil treatment once a week. Whether you choose coconut, olive or almond, all you have to do is massage one of them into the scalp and leave it on your hair for a while. This way the hair will regenerate and get enough moisture.

There are many different products you can buy to improve the quality of your hair, but various natural methods and old recipes are quite effective. They nourish the hair with the necessary vitamins and proteins, strengthen the follicles and prevent hair loss.

To restore dry hair, you need to treat your hair with nourishing masks made of natural components two or three times a week. Quite simply, some of the best things for hair recovery can be found in the kitchen:
Olive Oil – Warm olive oil can help hydrate dry hair. Apply it to your hair and leave it on for 45 minutes, then wash and rinse.
Tea – Unsweetened tea can add shine to your hair and enhance your natural color. Rinse your hair with a tea that matches your natural color (black tea for brunettes, chamomile tea for blondes) after shampooing in the shower.
Coconut oil - acts as a natural conditioner. Take warm coconut oil and massage it into your hair and leave it on for thirty minutes. Rinse with shampoo.
Honey – Honey is a natural moisturizer and can help strengthen hair follicles. Mix equal parts of honey and shampoo and wash your hair with them.

As we mentioned in the previous part of the text, do not forget to take care of the overall health of the body. This is one of those obvious things, but in order to have healthy hair, you need to be healthy, which means eating right and getting the right nutrients. Since hair is just a part of your body, it needs certain nutrients to strengthen and encourage its growth.

It is known that shampoos are available for different hair types. The first thing you must pay attention to is the safe use of a natural shampoo that does not contain sulfates. They are suitable for all hair types and can solve just about any problem. They contain ingredients that regenerate and renew your hair. Of course, it is very important to start using them in time before the problem itself becomes bigger.

If you have the opportunity, it is best to choose a shampoo specifically for your hair type (shampoo for dry/damaged hair or for oily hair). After using the shampoo, be sure to apply conditioner to your hair. This may seem obvious, but conditioner is important for your hair's recovery, as it hydrates it and helps it restore the natural oils it needs. Avoid applying conditioner to the roots of the hair, as this can further oil it. Carefully selected products will speed up recovery, help your hair regain its balance and shine that are admired by the environment.

Another little tip: although many people think that hair products will work better if they are left on the hair longer than recommended, this is not always the rule. Sometimes not only are they not more effective, but they can damage the hair.

A hair straightener can do wonders and help us style our hair exactly the way we want in the shortest period of time. However, the heat that is necessary for the operation of the press, in order to straighten the hair, can greatly damage it and lead to damage. It is necessary that before using the styling device, you must apply products to protect your hair from heat. We can't always avoid styling tools, but we can keep our hair as healthy as possible when applying heat. Before blow-drying, curling or straightening your hair, you should always treat your hair with a protective serum or spray. As we have already stated, if you want the best for your hair, it is better not to wash your hair too much. However, if you notice that your hair is dirty, that's where dry shampoo comes in. Dry shampoo is very useful because it is a simple product that will cover the dirt or oil in the hair and make it fresh. Apply dry shampoo to your roots, spread it evenly with your fingers and brush through your hair for a more natural look.

Now that we have shared all these tips with you, recovery is guaranteed. Take care of your hair today and enjoy the results that will arrive soon!
