What ingredients should it contain, what properties should it have, and what chemical substances should it not contain should not own? What steps should be taken before and after shaving to avoid irritation? Here are some tips on how to properly approach shaving and what you should pay attention to when it comes to choosing the product we apply when shaving.

How to avoid skin irritation when shaving?

It is known that the skin of the face is more relaxed in the morning and tolerates shaving better than in the evening. What else should you pay attention to? Certainly on the sharpness and cleanliness of the razor, the shaving technique and the preparation of the skin itself. It is preferable to use short strokes with the razor, which, of course, you will wash after each use. Otherwise, long strokes cause the product to build up on the razor, so you won't get the best result. Change razors and blades often, because old ones accumulate dirt and breed bacteria and mold.

Don't rush, take your time to shave, because if you drag the razor on unprepared skin, you are more likely to injure it. The key is in skin hydration, so we are faced with a dilemma: which product hydrates the skin the most, restores it and protects it from irritation.

Emollient properties of shaving soap

Shaving Soap it is becoming more and more popular and the choice of men who want to always be perfectly shaven, while at the same time providing their skin with the necessary hydration. But this is no ordinary soap. These are special soaps that do not dry out the skin. When choosing, check if they have a label that says they are free of sulfates, petrolatum, parabens, silicones and that they are not produced with the help of GMOs. It is desirable that the shaving soap contains one of essential oils (argan, almond, palm, olive, coconut oil) or shea butter, which will soften the skin without greasing and clogging the pores. These natural oils have a beneficial effect, reduce water loss and contribute to skin moisture.

Look for a shaving soap that has it vitamins and antioxidants in its composition as well as unsaturated fatty acids. Such soap will have a soothing and antiseptic effect, and at the same time the skin will be nourished. The soap needs to be applied in circular motions to create foam, and the massage will make your skin feel even better.

Precision and protection with shaving gel

Shaving Gel is the first choice of men who want a precisely defined beard. Thanks to the glycerol, you will feel the razor gently glide over your skin. In addition, the gel can be distributed fairly evenly on your face and does not need to be applied in large quantities, which makes it an economical solution.

In addition, the gel has a rich texture that creates a protective layer on the skin, reduces friction and makes the shaving process easier. Even the stiffest hairs on the face will soften and the lubricating effect of the gel will make the skin protected and the movements of the shaver easy. Shaving gel is therefore also considered an excellent choice for men who have sensitive skin and the problem of ingrown hairs.

Rich lather for an easy shave

Shaving Foam is the favorite of most men. When buying, make sure that the foam is of good quality, from renowned manufacturers and preferably with as many natural ingredients as possible, obtained from plants, without chemical antioxidants.

As with shaving soap, sulfates and parabens should be avoided. Shaving foam is recommended for those who have a rough beard or sharp hair. The rich and creamy foam will give you a feeling of freshness and softness.

Before and after shaving

The ritual of shaving is recommended after bathing or showering when the hair has already softened and the pores have expanded. Before shaving, it is advisable to apply nourishing oil, e.g. castor oil, or a mixture of olive oil and another essential oil of your choice. The oil will prepare the skin for shaving by making it easier for the razor to slide and not "scrape" and in addition the hairs will be raised and ready for shaving.

Wash your face with warm water, because the skin is now susceptible to bacteria after the layer of dead cells has been removed. Do not rub it with a rough towel, just pat it. Hydrate it with a moisturizing cream or balm. After shaving it is necessary to apply an emulsion or lotion that will soothe the skin, hydrate and renew it. While before shaving the pores should be as open as possible, the product used after shaving should shrink the pores and have an astringent effect, i.e. tighten the surface of the epidermis. To prevent the skin from being dry and rough, lotions and emulsions containing natural essential oils will give your skin shine, elasticity and a silky feel.
